After-School Program

The Kids on the Block After-School Enrichment program is collaboratively provided by the City of McMinnville Parks & Recreation Department and McMinnville School District #40 in partnership with the KOB Inc. Foundation.

Our Mission is to provide safe, fun, enriching after-school opportunities that help build successful kids. The KOB After-School Enrichment program currently serves more than 800 students.

KOB After-School Enrichment is open to all 1st through 5th grade students who attend the six public elementary schools in McMinnville School District, including Sue Buel, Columbus, Grandhaven, Memorial, Newby, and Wascher Elementary.

Coordinated by a professional Program Manager and on-site program supervisors, the KOB After-School Enrichment program is staffed by energetic and fun recreation leaders with training and experience in youth development.

The KOB After-School Enrichment program includes a healthy snack, 30 minutes of Homework Help and reading time, and 3 recreation enrichment activity stations: Creation Station (arts, crafts, music, writing, drama), Fit Zone (sports, games, healthy lifestyles, nutrition), and STEM & Strategy (science, technology, engineering, math, group problem solving).  KOB also includes numerous special enrichment opportunities such as Outdoor School, Science Week, Global Youth Service Week, Artists-in-Residence, and numerous special guests and assemblies.
